What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
The most satisfying part of my job is solving complex business problems and being able to see the direct impact of our solutions on the business. So whether that means providing technical support for the launch of a new product or cheering after the sale of a multi-million-dollar annuity, the satisfaction is almost palpable.
What’s the culture like at Sun Life? What about the people you work with?
For me, 2 of the defining features of Sun Life’s culture are high performance and collaboration. Sun Life promotes a results-oriented culture and aligns my personal role and responsibilities with the overall business strategy. This, combined with the collaborative environment, means that not only can you realize your career aspirations at Sun Life but you can also have fun while doing so!
I have found the people here an absolute joy to work with. They are very helpful and extremely inspiring.
What are your favourite things about working at Sun Life?
In addition to working with great people, there are a couple of things that I especially like about Sun Life.
First and foremost, it is the ethos of the company. I love that Sun Life genuinely cares for its employees and for the community at large. The company values and promotes integrity, and that resonates with me immensely.
Secondly, it is the opportunity. Sun Life is a large organization with many diverse roles and teams. You can learn many different things and meet many different people all while staying within the same organization. This means that there are many exciting opportunities if you wish to avail yourself of them.
Why do you think students and recent grads should explore a co-op position or a career at Sun Life?
I think there are many reasons to be very excited by a prospective career at Sun Life. However, having been a co-op student and having graduated not too long ago, I will highlight one reason that means the most to me: At Sun Life, you will have the opportunity to learn from some of the most dynamic and talented people in the industry, people who can inspire you to not just be the best professional you can be, but also the best person you can be.
Can you offer some tips to students or recent grads who hope to start at Sun Life?
In short: Be driven, be passionate and have fun!
On the face of it, these 3 might seem disparate, but in my opinion they are all linked. Your drive will help you find your passion at Sun Life; your passion will allow you to have fun in your job here; and by having fun, you will be able to sustain your drive as well as your passion.
All 3 in tandem will help you have a great career at Sun Life.
